BEGL: Void Stuff (10th doctor)
MP: I was hoping for minimalism but think I came out with magician (12th doctor)
MP: What's wrong with this jumper? (9th doctor)
BEFL: Grandpa (War doctor)
BEGL: Zero Balance Dwarf Star Alloy (11th doctor)
The third BEGL Doctor Who collection features a very special guest - the wonderful Monster Polish! I have had the pleasure of trying several Monster Polishes before, and they are always quite special. This is the first time she has opened up her shop for the public, and I recommend you take a look.
First up is Grandpa - named after the war doctor. The War Doctor (John Hurt) turned up in the 50th anniversary special, as a prequel doctor and did his best to completely screw up the numbering sequence for the doctors. Thanks Grandpa!
Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Grandpa: off white creme with gold and rose microflakies.
It's beautiful and soft, very wintery and looks like soft snow. I found it to be a bit thick, but a couple of drops of thinner made it perfect consistency for my taste.
Stamped with Void Stuff, Grandpa is perfect as base for nail art.
Next up is Void Stuff, representing the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant. Void Stuff is his excuse for wearing the 3D glasses that are one of his trademarks. And if Void Stuff is anywhere near as gorgeous as this polish, i can't blame him for wanting to be able to see it.
Void Stuff is really a one coater, but I gave it two for good measure.
Stamped with Mundo de Unas 24 and a MoYou London plate.
Next one is Monster Polish: I was hoping for minimalism, but I think I came out with magician. This is inspired by the 12th doctor as played by Peter Capaldi.
Monster Polish - I Was Hoping for Minimalism, But I Think I Came Out With Magician : deep navy blue jelly with red shimmer.
It has the squishiness of a jelly, but builds up nicely for full coverage. This is three thin coats. The red shimmer does show, but was a bit shy for the photo.
Stamped with Grandpa to add soft snowflakes to the squishy blue. Plate is from Vivid Lacquer.
Another Monster Polish, this one is a very special one. It's called What's wrong with this jumper? and is inspired by the first doctor in the reboot, and the 9th in the long line of doctors, played by Christopher Eccleston.
Monster Polish - What’s Wrong With This Jumper?: black holographic with purple shimmer and a satin finish.
The purple shimmer plays in the light, but likes to hide for the camera. This one really shines in sunlight. Or so I imagine, I haven't actually seen sunlight in what seems like forever. I barely remember what sunlight looks like.
Stamped with Mundo de Unas and an MJ plate
Last, but definitely not least, we have Zero Balance Dwarf Star Alloy. This is inspired by the 11th doctor, played by Matt Smith, my favourite goofy doctor. The colour is not goofy at all, and is based on a special metal used to built the perfect prison, which would be the prettiest prison in the universe if it was actually this colour!
Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Zero Balance Dwarf Star Alloy: black linear holographic with a rainbow of additional shimmers.
Simple, yet complex, this is a lovely black holo, perfect as a base for stamping. Oh who am I kidding, in my world everything is a perfect base for stamping. STAMP ALL THE HINGS!
I love these simple stamps, that really let the base colour through. I used Mundo de Unas and a MoYou London plate.
These are currently available as full sets at both Monster Polish and Blue-eyed Girl Lacquers, which includes all five bottles of polish as well as a sample set of Dr Who inspired vinyl decals. Both shops will have individual bottles of their respective Doctors, as well as additional vinyl decals.
