Challenge post - movember!

Time for another challenge post!

Now sit back, relax, and imagine... imagine yourself further back in time, back to a better time and a simpler time... let's say friday. Well what a coincidence! Friday also happens to be the day I was supposed to post this mani, so the timing is perfect!

I did a german blue moustache mani - all blue polishes bought in germany. I used dotting tools for both eyes and beards.

You looking at me punk??

These are the polishes I used:

Catrice: Up In The Air, P2 Boat Trip, Essence The boy next door and I love bad boys.

Go check out the lovely manicures from the other ladies in this challenge:

The challenge was created by the lovely Sonja from Sunday Manicures
Also participating is: Charlotte from Passion4Polish
Shiny Rainbow from Rainbowify Me
Anne Mette  from AMNegle

Girly Bits: Boo-berry

It is no secret that I love Girly Bits, and today I want to show you one of the polishes from the Halloween collection. Boo-berry is a beautiful purple jelly full of blue, purple and fuchsia glitter. The glitters look beautifully layered in the jelly. I layered it over China Glaze Gothic Lolita, but it could probably be opaque on it's own in 3 coats.

I tried it with some Essie Matte About You on top, because matte glitter is awesome.

I really like thins look, it makes the different colours of glitters really stand out.

Girly Bits is available from Llarowe and from Girly Bits

Jersey Shore Collection

This collection was made as a present, and to start with I just wanted to make a couple of polishes, but I got carried away and made five, because I was having so much fun!

Unfortunately, I don't have swatches of these, I swatched them on a nail wheel that has since escaped. If you see it running around, please call your local police so they can get back home safely.

Snooki is the bright pink polish, a bit too colourful and has all the odd shapes and colours in the book - just like Snooki.

The Situation: this is a colour changing polish, it's very dull on it's own, but when you make it socialize it suddenly has a lot more colour. It looks green, but actually changes more between red and gold. Completely unexpected, and never what it appears to be. Remind you of anyone?

Jwoww: Red, dark and vampy. Nuff said.

T-shirt time: that moment where they are ready to go, and they put on their fresh Tshirts at the last minute, so it's pristine when they go out fist-pumping. Why do I know these things??

GTL: The basic guido rule - you gotta keep up with your Gym, Tan and Laundry.

Disclaimer: this is all me totally guessing, cause I would never watch a tacky show like Jersey Shore. Obviously.

Love and understanding

November 8th has been chosen as a day where we group together in the nail polish community against bullying.

As a family therapist, I meet bullying regularly and I see the damage it does to children. I meet the children on both sides, both the bullies and the ones being bullied and let me tell you - no one on either side is happy. The bullying creates hate and animosity and breaks down children every day.

I always like to work towards something good as opposed to away from something bad, because I believe words are powerful and stick with us. So this post is dedicated to love and understanding, those are the words we want to stick around.

For my purple mani, I have chosen a pawprint stamp. I have chosen it because it symbolises the trails we as people leave when we interact with other people. Trails stick around even when we are not there to see them anymore. Everything we do leave a trail, so make sure your trail in life is full of love and understanding. Thank you.

I used Barry M Indigo as a base and stamped it with Barry M Chameleon Lilac

In honour of this cause, Llarowe will be donating $2 for every purple polish sold on the site from 12am on Thursday, November 8th to 12am on Friday, November 9th 2012 to, an organization devoted to education to stop bullying. What a great excuse to get shopping!!
